It mainly develops on the Gobi in Yardang scenic spot, which is a kind of aeolian landforms (Figure 4-15) formed by the rolling or creeping gravels under the drive of strong wind. It is the unique aeolian landform in the wind area, with its shape like ridge hillock or crescent. Gravel wave is similar to the sand wave. However, the compositional material is gravel rather than sand. It is made up of peaks, troughs and two wings. The wave extending direction is 80 °, the arrangement direction of which is perpendicular to the dominant wind direction. The windward slope is on the north, with the angle about 8-10 °. Meanwhile, the leeward slope is steep, with the angle about 30 °. The gravel wave is 0.1-0.2 m high and the gravel is 0.5-3 cm in diameter.
