The Przewalski's horse is a member of the equine family, possessing keen senses, high alertness, a fierce nature, and impressive hunger and thirst resistance. It is an impressive runner. It primarily feeds on weeds and mosses and is an endangered animal under state protection. The animal was named by Russian scholar Polyakov in 1881. In the wilderness of Xinjiang, China, Przewalski's horses became extinct during the 1970s and 1980s. However, in 1986, China acquired this species from the UK, the US, and Germany. After breeding and reproduction, they were released back into the wild. As of 2022, the population of Przewalski's horses in China had exceeded 700. The Xihu National Nature Reserve in the park is one of the important bases for the release of Przewalski's horses.
